Less Colors, More Impact: Effective Designs with Limited Colors (2015) by Pie Books features a very noticeable cover with neon green and pink type against a white and grey gingham background. The book’s entire purpose is to prove how less colors can sometimes be more effective, and the cover is a perfect example of how that is true, considering it quickly caught my eye.
This book was edited and produced by PIE BOOKS, a Japanese publishing group with over 100 produced books. The cover designer, art director, and designer is Akiko Shiba, who actually has very minimal biographical information available online. However, from just the cover design, we can tell that Shiba is experienced and has an understanding of how to pull an audience in with the use of minimal colors.
