James Beard (1903-1985) was an American cookbook author, column writer and television host. Anne Scatto is an American graphic designer whose work includes book covers and jackets, interiors and magazines. Anne has designed book covers and jackets for children's books such as The Busy World of Richard Scarry: The Best Story Collection Ever! and Mavin magazine.
James Beard's Simple Foods contains 70 articles from James' cooking column. and is prefaced by the famous chef and cookbook author Julia Child. This cover design is very colorful and eye-catching, with red hand-painted art fonts and the style of the watercolor ingredients in the picture is consistent with James' portrait painting.
