This newspaper discusses the 504 protests in San Fransisco. The protests consisted of a 26-day sit in forcing the government to enforce section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973(nps.gov). Essentially they sought out their right to be included in daily life and to not be descriminated against on the basis of their disabilities.
The Black Panthers publicly supported this protest as a part of the civil rights movement. Their weekly newspaper reflects this, celebrating the win. Both pages of the paper outline the successes and how this is a win for everyone in the civil rights movement.
The largest type on these two pages, aside from the title of the paper, boast about handicapped wins, while the images showcase the relief and joy on everyones faces after protesting for so long. They emphasise how many people of all different walks of life came together under a common cause.
