As one of the main brands over the whole university, it shows a block letter I in a set of colors. The only ones allowed for this branding is mainly in blue, orange, and white. There are some difference with the background but it is set that the I and its outline are different colors and are one of the three listed above.

This is important because of its influence over the community that surrounds it. It's a recognizable symbol that for the area refers only to the university. It also brings together people under the same logo. University logos are important for people to feel the connection to those they surround themselves with in classes or around town. It is pride for people that attend, so the simplicity of this symbol is important because of how much it can go on top of and everyone knows what it belongs to or represents.
