The Vault of the future (Fallout 1997)

Poster tries to appeal to the viewer to make it seem like the fallout shelters are a vacation spot and not an imminent nuclear attack that would destroy their life, something companies are masters at misleading the audience about. This is both a satire of capitalism and how the public has been desensitized to imminent danger.

For this advertisement, this is reminiscent of quite a lot of things; one of those that comes to mind is the posters of the 80s, which featured quite realistic illustrations that marketed a movie, a place, or something else entirely. This poster itself features a mix of illustrativism after World War II, where they have a middle ground of realistic art styles and cartoonish expressions, and anatomy. The illustration contains quite an understanding of the detailed backgrounds and printed formats that became quite popularized as technology kept improving across the decades. Despite this game being published in 1997, the pixelated art and 3d models are quite detailed as well and give a clear contrast of the bright poster in the middle.
