This poster is part of the political and military collections at the Smithsonian National Museum of American History.
This poster uses the bold visual language of Op Art to demand an end to U.S. military involvement in Southeast Asia. Designed by David G. Clayton and produced by the People's Coalition for Peace and Justice in New York, it juxtaposes hypnotic red-white concentric chevrons with stark black-and-white imagery of a Vietnamese farmer and water buffalo. The target-like design symbolizes the relentless bombing campaign, visually trapping the viewer while delivering facts about the U.S. air war under Nixon.
