Horizonte (November 1926 Issue)
Horizonte magazine was published in Mexico between 1926 and 1927 and served as striking visual manifestos. Estridentismo or Stridentism was the name given to this movement that began after 1921. Post-Mexican Revolutionary period, these covers embodied the Mexican avant-garde with artwork and literature related to political and social issues. This cover uses earthy, red, brown, and creme tones. Like most Horizonte covers, this one also uses bold all-caps lettering. The illustration draws attention to the aftermath of the Mexican Revolution (1910-1920). Through the suggestion of regrouping or retreating, this cover emphasizes Mexican revolutionaries who fought and showed resilience.
