Horizonte magazine was published in Mexico between 1926 and 1927 and served as striking visual manifestos. Estridentismo or Stridentism was the name given to this movement that began after 1921. Post-Mexican Revolutionary period, these covers embodied the Mexican avant-garde with artwork and literature related to political and social issues. This cover by RAC or Ramón Alva de la Canal portrays an indigenous woman in traditional clothing with a bowl of fruit and a large agave plant behind her. Her closed eyes suggest calmness and serenity while embodying Mexican identity.
