When looking at where graphic design has been used historically, few things are quite as memorable and iconic as a movie poster. As a designed work, a movie poster accomplishes many goals, such as promotion, acting as merchandise, and giving a film visual identity. This poster for Kill Bill Volume 1 is a great example of a designed work made with intention. The most immediately noticeable thing viewers will pay attention to before reading the poster is the bright, saturated yellow background. This color is a core part of Kill Bill’s brand identity, and is complimented by bold, black type accented with text in a blood-red midtone. Additionally, there is production information in the bottom left of the poster, made in white type to fade into the image without distracting from the title, character, and bright colors.
