1996 Archie Sonic the Hedgehog issue 39

Published by Archie Comic Publications, Inc., 325 Fayette Avenue, Mamaroneck, NY 10543 in October of 1996. The cover artists are Patrick Spaziante and Harvey Mercadoocasio. 

This comic shows the first appearance of Mecha Sonic as Robotnik is finally able to capture and roboticize him.  Sonic is ordered to fight his team who unfortunately are under the impression that Sonic has betrayed them because ironically, Sonic wanted permission to be roboticized in order to take down Robotnik at the beginning of the comic but his request was denied. He went off to the gym to blow off some steam when he was suddenly knocked out and kidnapped by Nack the Weasel. Robotnik hired Nack to do this.
