Sugiura杉浦 rose to prominence through his advertising designs for Mitsukoshi三越, where he began working as a commissioned designer in 1908.  For 13 years, he created covers for Mitsukoshi’s PR magazines Mitsukoshi Times and Mitsukoshi, as well as posters advertising the department store. During this period, he initially produced many Art Nouveau-style works, later transitioned to Secession-style designs, and eventually became highly prolific in the Art Deco style. This era marked the peak of his career as a commercial designer.

In this poster, with the Mitsukoshi building as the background, it shows an adult woman in a traditional kimono and a little girl in Western-style clothing, embodying the integration of traditional and modern fashion. The retro colors and distinct characters reflect the blend of clothing culture and commercial marketing of that era.
