Latin American Protest Archive

The Latin American Protest Archive is an open-access, evolving resource designed for researchers, educators, activists, and the general public interested in the region’s rich legacy of civic engagement and resistance. Centring on visual content, the archive features a diverse and growing collection of photographs, banners, placards, flyers, reports, and other artefacts created by Latinx workers from the 1970s to the present. By preserving these historical materials, the Latin American Protest Archive aims to promote a deeper understanding of the cultural and political landscapes that have shaped Latin American communities in the UK, ensuring that stories of labour struggle and resilience continue to inform and inspire future generations. While the archive is free to access, we kindly ask users to credit both the Latin American Protest Archive and the trade unions who hold the rights to the original materials.

The Latin American Protest Archive has been made possible by Venezuelan artist José García Oliva and the support of Gasworks, Participation Advisory Board and City Bridge Foundation.
