Bières de la Meuse Poster

1

This 1897 poster is by famed Art Nouveau designer Alphonse Mucha.  Mucha is well known for his use of color, natural motifs, and flat figures that take inspiration from Greek and Japanese design.

The poster pictures a reclining woman with poppies, wheat, and hops in her hair holding an overflowing tankard of beer. The illustrations below, made by a separate artist,  showcase the goddess of the river Meuse and a view of the brewery where this beer was made.
