Designer’s Name + Biography:
Yusaku Kamekura (1915–1997) was a Japanese graphic designer. He studied at the Bauhaus-inspired Institute of New Architecture and Industrial Arts in Tokyo. Kamekura became famous worldwide for his poster for the 1964 Tokyo Olympics. He also worked on many corporate identities and is called the “father of modern Japanese graphic design.”

Cultural/Artistic Context:
In the 1980s, Japan’s technology and communication industries were growing quickly. NTT (Nippon Telegraph and Telephone) was one of the biggest companies. Kamekura’s logo shows a simple black circle with a flowing line inside. It looks modern, strong, and easy to recognize. The design reflects how Japanese companies used clean modern design to show innovation and trust.
