The year 1940 was declared as the 2600th anniversary of the accession of Emperor Jimmu (Japan's First Emperor). Symbolic motifs arose such as Mount Fuji, and there was an effort to display and promote national unity. Nihonga (Japanese-style Painting) aligned with Japans traditional culture and aesthetics, was used to promote Japans unity. In the picture card there is use of Nihonga to depict the buildings and there is also Mount Fuji within the lower card to show nationalism.
