The Seibu Saison Group (often just called “Saison Group”) was very active in the 70s–80s in Japan, not only as a retailer but as a cultural tastemaker. It commissioned creative works, art, design, lifestyle branding, etc., aiming to position its stores and associated businesses as lifestyle/culture hubs.
Asaba Katsumi was one of the lead designers/art directors working with Seibu and Saison, creating posters, campaigns, and imagery that linked Seibu’s identity with aesthetic, cultural, and even nature-oriented values.
