EXPO 2005 AICHI
EXPO 2005 in Aichi was a major international exposition, held from March 25 to September 25, 2005.
The central visual motif is drawn from Honzo Zusetsu (本草図説), a series of natural history illustrations by Takagi Shunzan from the Edo period, which is held in Aichi Prefecture. These illustrations depict plants, insects, and natural forms.
In the initial presentation to the BIE (Bureau of International Expositions), Kenya Hara was part of the visualization/brand identity team; the concept for Nature’s Wisdom was being pitched from at least 1997 onward.
