Takayuki Terakado (寺門孝之)
Japanese Painter and Illustrator, born in Nagoya City in 1961
Initially attended Osaka University for Environmental Engineering until changing over to art and moved to Tokyo after graduating to work for Shifka Co., Ltd which was a media production company until 1986. Turned to freelance work working with the mediums, watercolor/acrylic paint, and computer graphics. Alongside his personal art practice he also works as a professor at Kobe Design University. His works range from books and book covers for novels and school textbooks, to department store posters and title cards for T.V programs.
In this book cover, we see a watercolor painting depicting a girl being followed by a blue spirit holding a fish. The background is black and there are colorful bulbs also following the central two figures. It is almost like they are flying in a night sky and it gives off a very magical quality that could mirror the story in the book.
