C Magazine 1998/9

Akiyama Iku, born in 1947, graduated from Musashino Art University with a design degree and later from the School of Visual Art in New York. He has held various design positions, including editorial and advertising design. Throughout his career, he has won numerous awards, including the Illustrator of the Year award at the Japan Graphic Exhibition in 1986. In September 1998, C Magazine featured a cover designed by Akiyama Iku amongst other issues. This cover shows his design knowledge with the restrained typography, disciplined grids, and image-first pacing.
