Japan's Choices, Essay Contest for Mainishi Newspaper

This is designed by Ikko Tanaka for a call-for-papers poster (論文募集) organized by The Mainichi Newspapers, with the theme “Japan’s Choice.” It invites submissions of essays addressing issues currently facing Japanese society(at the time). The overall design features white text on a black background, with the centre of the composition dominated by the large white title 「日本の選択」 (“Japan’s Choice”). Below, in the middle, appears the signature 「毎日新聞社」 (The Mainichi Newspapers). The original manuscript was written in calligraphy, and the font used in the poster is called Kōchō (光朝), designed by Ikko Tanaka.
