The Little Shepherd of Kingdom Come

THE LITTLE SHEPHERD OF KINGDOM COME  began as a bucolic 1902 novel set in the contested border state of Kentucky before and during the Civil War. Filmed twice in the silent 1920s, it was remade in 1961 as a vehicle for kids and as a hopeful launch into acting for pop & country singer Jimmie Rodgers. It succeeded passably enough on part of its mission as it sports an attractive look to the production, directed by Andrew V. McLaglen on scenic spots around Lexington in Kentucky and near Big Bear Lake & Valley in California. Jack Pickford in ‘The Little Shepherd of Kingdom Come’ from 1920 – now considered lost. Original one-sheet posters (27" x 41") typically feature artwork depicting scenes from the story of an orphan boy from the Kentucky hills who joins the Union army. The posters feature the names of stars Jack Pickford, Clara Horton, and Pauline Starke. Authentic 1920 posters are considered rare collectibles, with original linen-backed one-sheets having been sold for thousands of dollars. Modern reproductions and reprints, including 11x17 inch versions, are also available through various vendors.
