This movie was released in Japan on July 17, 1999 in Japan as “Pocket Monsters the Movie: Mirage Pokémon: Lugia's Explosive Birth.” While in America it was released as "Pokémon the Movie 2000: The Power of One" on July 21, 2000.  The designs of the early posters for these types of movies were made by collaborative productions by the animation studios key animators, one such designer being Sayuri Ichiishi, who is a main character designer for the Pokémon anime series and anime exclusive characters. The main design choices for the poster start with the Pokémon Lugia as the main centerpiece as it is the main Pokémon for the movie. It being in the top center shows its importance while in a veil of water in the ocean, symbolizing its role as the guardian of the sea. Accompanied by the three legendary birds in the sky above to the top right as their master and Ash Ketchum as the main protagonist of the Pokémon anime, they playa crucial role in the movie. Another key aspect is the choice of typography in the text of the movie title. The choice of big bold characters in a fiery font/color gives more physical meaning and pop effect to the text. As the text “Bakutan” (爆誕) meaning explosive birth, the text is appropriately styled and colored like an explosion.
