This poster was made in 1967 by Yusaku Kamekura who led the first generation of graphic designers after the war. He used a lot of the International Typographic Style or Swiss style, geometric and linear forms, photography mixed with Japanese aesthetics such as symmetrical compositions and iconic Japanese forms as represented by the sakura flower in the middle.
This was a promotional advertising poster specifically was designed for the Osaka Expo in 1970 which theme was “Progress and Harmony for Mankind” Their logo is similar to a sakura flower and is used in the middle of the poster. The Expo was used to display unusual artworks and designs
