Soviet Yiddish propaganda poster
This is a propaganda poster for the Liquidation of illiteracy policy (Likbez) made in the late 1920s or early 1930s by the USSR. This policy aimed at increasing literacy in the Soviet Union. This poster features letters from the Cyrillic, Georgian, Armenian, Turkic, Hebrew, and Latin alphabets and captioned with “Wha-a-t? You are also with us not knowing?! Go to likpunkt [illiteracy liquidation station]!” in Yiddish. The program offered several non-Russian languages in an attempt to reverse Russification.
