Shikei Sengoku (Death Sentence) was created by the Japanese avant-garde group Movo in 1925. It was founded by artists such as Murayama Tomoyoshi, Masami Yanase, Kamenosuke Ogata, Shuzo Oura, and Shinro Kadowaki. It represents Mavo's collaborative book design and exemplifies its visual art and literary expressions. Shikei Sengoku's typography was different; the text layout was framed with lines, symbols, and shapes. It remains one of the best examples of Mavo's original vision, showing how typography and the layout can turn a book into a work of art.
