The cover of Craft News в Vol. 21, No. 2, February 1953, is a bold statement created by Hiroshi Ohchi. The strong modernist designer in Ohchi seems to have created a composition of dynamic balance and linear harmony with his geometric forms in black, white, and orange, used with restraint. It is quite structural and clear because of its asymmetrical position and strong horizontal and vertical lines that denote Bauhaus and early-modernist influences.
Bold Japanese text runs alongside the sparse English words "INDUSTRIAL ART NEWS" to highlight the magazine's bifocal cultural identity.
