This is a poster made for the Glasgow Institute of the Fine Arts. It was made by Margaret Macdonald, Frances Macdonald, and J. Herbert McNair in 1895. This poster embodies the characteristics of Art Nouveau with its linear stylization of human, plant, and bird forms, as well as the blocks of irregular typography and muted colors. The Macdonald sisters and McNair however added a twist to the Art Nouveau elements with the influence of Celtic imagery. This work is only one of the pieces that these designers did which led to the influence of Art Nouveau in Scotland.
