1968 International Stoke-Mandeville Games for the Paralysed Israel

745

This is poster for the 3rd ever paralympic games. At this time it was called the International Stoke-Mandeville Games for the Paralyzed. in 1968 the games were held in Israel, hence the hebrew on the poster.

The poster uses the games symbol,  similar to that of the traditional olympic games but the interlocking circles are spoked wheels like those on a wheel chair. The main focus of this poster is a very flat illustration of two people, bound to wheel chairs, playing basketball. The illustration takes great use of geometry and solid color to abstract the figures while keeping them recognizable.

The english text is all a simple sans serif type face indicative of the swiss international style present at the time. Although the use of bright pinks in tandem with the bright reds don't align with the typical contrasting colors of this style.
