Evolution of the UPS Logo

UPS started in 1907 as a $100 loan and became the world’s largest package delivery service. Originally featuring the shield with am eagle carrying a package, the design emphasized readability and national pride. In 1937, the logo was simpified but retained the shield design.

In 1961,  famed designer Paul Rand modernized the logo by adding a package tied with a string, highlighting the company’s core service in a friendly, accessible way. Then in 2003, UPS removed the package and updated the logo to a more leek gold and brown shield. The current logo removes the three-dimensional  design.
