Æon Flux DVD Cover
Aeon Flux is an American Sci-fi Adventure animated TV series created by Peter Chung that aired on MTV from 1991 to 1995.
This series takes place in a dystopia of mutant creatures, clones, and robots split into two city-states (Monica and Bregna). The title character is a secret agent from Monica who infiltrates Bregna and the show incorporates themes of tragic/forbidden love, power, class struggle, and more.
Æon Flux has made an impact on graphic design, as shown on the DVD cover, by challenging traditional animation aesthetics through angular figures and hyper-stylized, minimalist faces, embracing postmodern styles such as asymmetry and grunge style, and influencing cyberpunk and underground visuals demonstrated in the brutalist architecture and minimalist typography.
