Yale School of Architecture poster for lectures and exhibitions (2000)

20

This advertisement poster for Yale School of Architecture by Michael Bierut is simplistic yet intricate. It was created in the year 2000. This poster was also contributed to by Kerrie Powell.

This poster is special because it documents current lectures taking place but in an interesting way. It contains the lecture names and times within the arrows, requiring you to look closely to understand the content. This poster is completely black and white, but the contrast present is strong, effectively catching the eye.

Michael Bierut is a graphic designer, teacher, and design critic who studied at the University of Cincinnati College of Design, Architecture, Art, and Planning. He has been in partnership with his design firm, Pentagram, since 1990.

The arrows of this poster direct our eyes across it, which sets it aside from any other poster we might see about lectures. It plays into the new art era of the 2000s by slightly pushing the modern and experimental boundary.
