This poster was made as an entry for the 21st International Poster Biennial in Warsaw. It was created to raise awareness about the impact of global warming on the polar icecap and its ecosystems. The polar bear was a popular symbol for climate advocacy after it was used in 2003 by a US Senator to sway a congressional vote in favor of preserving polar habitats.
The poster is particularly poignant as it was created during a period of tonal shift in climate advocacy design. After years of advocacy with little progress, many artists turned to more grim and dramatic themes to emphasize the severity of the climate crisis.
