This alarm clock belonged to my Bulgarian grandmother – a gift from her uncle who had traveled to the former USSR. Manufactured by the Second Moscow Watch Factory, Slava (“Glory” in Russian) was one of the most prominent civilian timepiece brands of the Soviet era. Unlike many Soviet watches intended for military use, Slava focused on more accessible, everyday design and was a staple in homes across the Eastern Bloc. After my grandmother passed away, I kept her alarm clock as a lasting reminder of her. Remarkably, it still functions to this day - a testament to the life it has witnessed.
