The North American Support-In to Celebrate the Human Spirit informational poster

The mental health advocacy group MindFreedom International is part of a collaborative network of organizations of international proportions. MindFreedom has always stood for patient rights in the face of involuntary commitment and forced therapies, from restraints to psychosurgery.

This poster is part of an underrepresented body of work from the counterculture of the late twentieth century. In it, the grassroots organizations that later became MindFreedom International align themselves with all organizations concerning themselves with human rights, including the civil rights movement, disability rights movement, and LGBTQ movement (just to name a few), calling on its audience to break the silence about psychiatric oppression.
