Constructivism design was made to reflect modern industrial societies and urban spaces, specifically started in Soviet areas. The movement rejected decorative and ornamented styles in favor of the industrial assemblage of materials and imagery. In some cases, rare for its time, female artists and designers worked alongside, and were almost considered ‘equals’ to their male colleagues, which brought about new ideas, designs, and ways of thinking in terms of design.
This piece is a silk-screen poster that features her bare belly, which is seen as a very vulnerable part of the human body, and a wallpaper print of Columbus’ ships.
