May Day

2

This work exemplifies how graphic design can unify political struggles through striking imagery and powerful messaging. Created for the May Day protests in Washington, D.C., in 1971, this poster merges anti-Vietnam War activism with a broader call for solidarity, invoking Indigenous imagery and collective resistance.

The bold red background and high-contrast image of a Native figure emphasize urgency and strength, while the accompanying quote warns against division and promotes unity.

This poster is part of the political and military collections at the Smithsonian National Museum of American History.
