Constructivism design was made to reflect modern industrial societies and urban spaces, specifically started in Soviet areas. The movement rejected decorative and ornamented styles in favor of the industrial assemblage of materials and imagery. In some cases, rare for its time, female artists and designers worked alongside, and were almost considered ‘equals’ to their male colleagues, which brought about new ideas, designs, and ways of thinking in terms of design.

Solomon combines her designs of architecture and typography through her signature style of bold shape and color. This piece was highly influenced by 1920s Russian avant-garde designers, specifically artist El Lissitzky, who was a Constructivist and studied in Germany and Russia. Solomon’s color choices were a callback to Lissitzky’s and other constructivists of the time.
