The cover of this book looks very typical of the 90's style. The visuals of the cover reads as very country home, family oriented. The typography is a mix of serif and san serif, but both are very readable, clean, and minimalist. The Serif typeface itself feels very country home-ish. The use of real photos of food vs. stylized depictions of food pairs well with the typefaces chosen.
