The lithographic magazine cover showcases a headline that reads “5,000 Blacks May Go To Prison By December,” the newspaper article discusses classist, political, and racial oppression that exist within the United States Judicial System. This article is central to the movement’s clause as the “radical” want for freedom and fair judicial proceedings of Black Americans is what the party was retroactively fighting for. Douglas’ use of photographs of party members, patterns, and illustrative objects create authentic staging; the limited use of material falls in line with the cause of the collective. The use of Photo Collage helps to communicate with the audience in addition allowing them to imagine themselves and peers allied to the movement.
