It's a very subtle design, since one might think it would be Ziggy Stardust up close with the lightning bolt across his face. It was a monochrome photo that was then airbrushed and manipulated afterwards. The photo was taken on January 13th, 1972. The large K. West sign is another prominent part of the image as a whole.
