This image was designed by Yuka Watanabe* in 2004 while they were working with Garden Inc. for their client, Kadokawa Shoten. It is one of five designs created by Yuka. The image is titled “Yaseijidai No. 009” in the bottom-right corner. It is a design used for Kadokawa Shoten's “Wild Era,” a monthly magazine featuring stories across genres such as mystery, history, and romance (Kadobun website).
The art director was Norito Shinmura, and Kiyofusa Nozu photographed the image. Norito Shinmura was born in 1960 on Ukashima Island, in Yamaguchi Prefecture, in a fisherman's family. He graduated from Osaka Designers' College and worked in the Osaka area until 1984. Before establishing Shinmura Design Office (now called Garden Inc.) in 1995, Shinmura was part of Shin Matsunaga Design Inc. Norito is also a member of the Tokyo Art Directors Club and the Japan Graphic Designers Association.
Garden Inc.'s current staff is Norito Shinmura, Kosuke Niwano, Kosuke Mizoguchi, and Isao Mizoguchi.
