The Battle of Lexington, 1775 is an engraving of what happened at the Battle of Lexington from Doolittles view. He depicts the British troops in lines wearing red coats firing on the colonial troops who appear to be retreating, with some even wounded and lying down on the ground. The text under the image gives more information such as, “Major Pitcairn at the head of the regular grenadiers.” Doolittle had traveled to Lexington from New Haven, CT to view the site and interview eyewitnesses.
